The guarantee seal of the Republic of Cuba
The first time the Guarantee Seal was used was in 1889 by means of a Royal Decree, issued by the King of Spain. Later in 1912, the independent government of Cuba passed a law authorizing the use of a new design, similar to the one currently used. In 1931 it underwent a slight modification and in 1999 the change was more radical, with the addition of a serial number in red and an emblem that is seen only under ultraviolet light.
Finally, in 2009 a new version with a hologram is introduced in each stamp, as well as an individualized barcode that allows the tracking of each Habanos box, from production to its commercialization by each exclusive Habanos distributor in the world. The barcode allows you to verify the authenticity of each box by entering the Habanos website: www.habanos.com
Appellation of origin
Since 1994, all boxes carry the Habanos stamp. It is the indicator of the Protected Designation of Origin that protects these cigars. All Habanos boxes and flasks carry it.
Stamps from local importers
Each country or region may have its own complementary stamps, to constitute a supplementary local filter against counterfeiting. These brands are the responsibility of local exclusive distributors. For more information ask your nearest Habanos Specialist.
